General Description

Sewerage Catchment:

• Merimbula outfall is the discharge point for the Merimbula STP, which services the townships of Merimbula, Pambula and Pambula Beach (Bega Valley Shire Council 1989).

Sewage Treatment:  

• Merimbula STP is an IEAAS plant with trickling filters and tertiary ponding (MHL769 1997). A dune exfiltration system has recently been installed.

Outfall:

• The ocean outfall discharged from a T-shape pipe onto Merimbula Beach approximately half way along its length. Little of the effluent flow actually reaches the beach, with most reused on local golf courses and the rest directed through the dune exfiltration system.
